I often reflect on how grateful I am that I believe God is who He says He is. I believe the same about Jesus. He is who He says He is. But I know believing isn’t enough. I must live out what I believe in my day-to-day life. My beliefs hold hands with my faith and become my actions.

We’re living in a day where lines are blurred. People resist absolutes–––offended if something feels narrow. Narrow can be uncomfortable. To me it’s brings peace to know Jesus is the Way to the Father. I rest in narrow.

I rest in His love. My life before Jesus is nothing I’d ever long to go back to. It’s with such joy and gratitude I walk with Him.

When Jesus says, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life,” I rest. When He says, “I will never leave you or forsake you,” I remember I am loved. I find comfort in Him. I know I’ll never be left alone to navigate through the days this side of Heaven without Him.

Over a span of many decades, Jesus has been who He says He is in my life. He is kind. His heart is tender. I love His mercies, new every morning, and have experienced them even though I don’t deserve to! He has shown Himself strong and present in my day-to-day life and actively involved in all that concerns me.

It’s because of who He has shown Himself to be I trust Him and whole-heartedly embrace and believe the tenets below. They are not pat statements. They are truths I have seen and lived out and experienced first-hand for forty plus years. Not in my own strength, but in His.

The definition for grace I live by, and love, is this: Grace is God enabling me to do what I could never do on my own.

On this journey together,

  • I BELIEVE the Bible to be the inspired, authentic Word straight from the heart of our Holy God. II Timothy 3:16-17

  • I BELIEVE there is one God, existing forever in three Persons-God the Father, God the Son, whose name is Jesus, and God the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:18-19; Mark 12:29

  • I BELIEVE we are created in the image of God. Genesis 1:26-27

  • I BELIEVE in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, John 20:24-31; in His virgin birth, Luke 1:26-38; in His sinless life, Hebrews 4:14-15; in His miracles, John 20:30-31; in His vicarious, atoning death, Colossians 2:13-14; in His bodily resurrection, John 20:27; in His ascension to the right hand of His Father, Acts 1:9-11; and in His personal, future return to this earth in power and glory to rule a thousand years, Revelation 20:6

  • I BELIEVE in the Rapture of the Church, which is the “catching away” of the believers when Jesus returns for His Church. I Thessalonians 4:15-18

  • I BELIEVE that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through personal repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ, being justified by His Blood He shed on the Cross. Acts 20:21, Romans 5:9

  • I BELIEVE that the regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal salvation. Titus 3:4-7

  • I BELIEVE that there is provision for physical, mental, and emotional healing for the human body as God wills. I believe prayer on the part of His people plays a part in this healing. Although God certainly doesn’t need us to accomplish healing, He uses His children’s fervent prayers. James 5:13-18

  • I BELIEVE we are sealed by the Holy Spirit when we hear the Word of God and believing, we put our hope in Christ Jesus for salvation. Ephesians 1:11-14

  • I BELIEVE in the gifts of the Holy Spirit given as He wills to whomever He chooses. I believe these gifts are in operation today. Galatians 5:16-18; 22-25; I Corinthians 12

  • I BELIEVE in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit and because of His indwelling, we are enabled to live a holy life. II Thessalonians 2:13; I Thessalonians 5:23-24

  • I BELIEVE in the resurrection of the saved and the lost: one to everlasting life with the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit in Heaven; the other to separation from the Living God in everlasting damnation. Acts 24:15; John 5:28-29
